1. Students are required to participate in at least 2 out of 4 of the above categories in junior forms and senior forms respectively in order to meet the basic requirement of the programme.

 2. Students are regarded as completing each extra-curricular activity only if their attendance rate meets 75% or above or students regularly participate the activity. The activity record can be shown on report card if they fulfil this requirement.

 4. If students do not meet the basic requirement in junior forms / senior forms, they are required to join respective services/activities in summer (applicable to S3 & S5 term end). 

Example: If a student participates in (A) (I) in junior form and (M) (S) in senior form and is awarded as Champion in Speech Festival in a year, the above 5 categories are to be shown on his/her report card. 18 conduct marks are awarded in his/her entire secondary school life. 

 Remarks:
 1.Most of the (A) and (S) require teachers’ recommendation, shortlisting or only allow senior students to participate.

 2.Students who have completed courses outside the school in the same year can fill in an application form to apply for counting it as one of the (A)(I)(M)(S) category.

Q1: When can students register for AIMS activities?

A1: The school conducts a Central Recruitment phase every September. Students can register via the eEnrollment system on eClass (please refer to the attachment in the relevant school notice for operational guidelines). The allotment results will be announced on the school website in late September, and activities will officially commence in October.
In addition, a Second Central Recruitment will be held at the beginning of the second semester for selected co-curricular activities. Students can register via email or in person with the respective teacher-in-charge. Results will be communicated directly by the responsible teachers.
Note: Admission is subject to interview performance, lucky draw results, or the number of applicants.

Q2: What should we do if a student is introverted, has few interests, and is reluctant to participate in co-curricular activities?

A2: Our school advocates whole-person development and actively encourages students to explore their potential and discover interests in various fields. Co-curricular activities serve as an essential platform for building social skills and self-confidence. Therefore, we highly recommend that parents encourage their children to participate in at least one school-based activity each year to step out of their comfort zones and experience a diverse campus life.

Q3: How does the AIMS programme help students with the HKDSE and university admissions? If a student already gets excellent academic results, will non-participation affect their chances of entering university?

A3: Today, higher education institutions and society place great emphasis on students' well-rounded and multi-faceted development. Consequently, most universities evaluate students' Other Learning Experiences (OLE) alongside their academic achievements during admission.
If two students obtain identical academic scores, the one with a richer OLE profile will enjoy a significant competitive edge. Furthermore, the school strongly encourages students to input their AIMS experiences and awards into their JUPAS OLE portfolio, which serves as valuable material for writing personal statements and preparing for university interviews.

Q4: Is participation in AIMS compulsory? What are the consequences if a student does not participate?

A4: The AIMS programme is an incentive-based initiative and is not compulsory. However, the school expects all Secondary 3 and Secondary 5 students to meet the basic requirements by the end of the school year—namely, acquiring at least two different letter codes during their junior and senior secondary stages, respectively. The school may arrange for students who fail to meet this baseline to participate in summer community service or join school service teams to fulfill the relevant criteria.

Q5: Are the AIMS awards and the "Gold Award" calculated independently?

A5: Students who accumulate and fulfill the designated requirements of AIMS (from S1 to S5) will be eligible for the "Silver Award." The "Gold Award" is a higher honor; students must represent the school in external competitions and achieve top 3 positions (Champion, 1st Runner-up, or 2nd Runner-up) at any time between S1 and S5.
Note: Applicants for the Gold Award must first achieve the Silver Award qualification and must scan the relevant QR code on page 27 of the Student Handbook to submit their application independently.

Q6: What is the main difference between a "Personal Honor" and the AIMS/Gold Awards?

A6: If a student wins an individual award or honor without representing the school, but still wishes to have it recognized to enrich their further studies profile, they may scan the QR code on page 27 of the Student Handbook to apply for a "Personal Honor" endorsement. Upon school verification and approval, the award will be recorded in the year-end report card, and official commendations will be given based on the level of the award.

Q7: Does the school require students to complete all four different categories of AIMS activities within a specific time limit?

A7: The school does not strictly mandate that students complete all four categories. However, we expect S3 and S5 students to achieve the basic graduation requirement by the end of the academic year—accumulating at least two different activity letter codes in their junior and senior secondary cycles, respectively. For details, please refer to pages 25-26 of the Student Handbook.

Q8: Can external (off-campus) activities be counted towards AIMS?

A8: Yes. Students can scan the QR code on page 27 of the Student Handbook to submit an application and upload supporting documents. For instance, if a student completes a total of 10 hours of piano lessons outside of school, they can apply to have it recognized under Category A (Aesthetic Development) or Category I (Intellectual Development) upon approval.
